As part of the Degree Show Naked Archive, my piece Aggregate Material investigates the way future generations might interpret the remnants of our civilisation. By using various types of concrete, I created a series of bricks arranged in a manner that evokes the grandeur and decay of structures like the Colosseum. In this work, I wanted to explore the dual nature of material culture — how the physical remnants of our time, once markers of human achievement, might eventually be perceived as ruins or relics by those who come after us. Through the manipulation of concrete, a material both ubiquitous and enduring, I examine ideas of permanence, memory, and the fragility of human legacy. Aggregate Material invites viewers to reflect on how future societies might reconstruct the stories of our age, reading into the layers of detritus we leave behind.
